The palladium-catalyzed direct cross-coupling of aryl bromides and (1Z,5Z)-cycloocta-1,5-dien-1-yllithium is described as an important method to synthesize 1-arylcyclooctadienes. The use of a well-established Pd2dba3/XPhos catalytic system affords the desired new compounds in good to excellent yields; the reaction proceeds at room temperature with both high efficiency and selectivity. Finally we found the best conditions to combine a suitable lithium-halogen exchange with a cross-coupling reaction. (Figure presented.).

A catalyst don’t appear in the overall stoichiometry of the reaction it catalyzes, but it must appear in at least one of the elementary reactions in the mechanism for the catalyzed reaction. 564483-18-7, Name is 2-(Dicyclohexylphosphino)-2′,4′,6′-tri-i-propyl-1,1′-biphenyl, molecular formula is C33H49P. Arylphosphines and dialkylbiarylphosphines react with singlet oxygen to form phosphine oxides and phosphinate esters. For mixed arylphosphines, the most electron-rich aryl group migrates to form the phosphinate, while for dialkylbiarylphosphines migration of the alkyl group occurs. Dialkylbiarylphosphines also yield arene epoxides, especially in electron-rich systems. Phosphinate ester formation is increased at high temperature, while protic solvents increase the yield of epoxide. The product distribution provides evidence for Buchwalds recent conformational model for the aerobic oxidation of dialkylbiarylphosphines.

The first general method for the Pd-catalyzed amination of aryl tosylates and benzenesulfonates was developed utilizing ligand 1, which belongs to a new generation of biaryl monophosphine ligands. In addition, the new catalyst system for the first time enables amidation of aryl arenesulfonates and aqueous amination protocols that do not necessitate the use of cosolvents. The substrate scope has been significantly expanded to include aryl halides containing primary amides and free carboxylic acid groups. In the case of multifunctional substrates, the Pd-catalyzed amination can provide selectivity that is complementary to the Cu-catalyzed C-N bond-forming processes. Copyright

A series of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)/PR3 palladium(ii) and palladium(0) complexes has been synthesized and fully characterized. X-ray crystallographic data have allowed comparison of ligand steric properties. The NHC ligand was found to vary its steric properties as a function of the phosphine co-ligand. These complexes display interesting catalytic properties in the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction performed in aqueous media. The pre-catalyst [PdCl2(IPr)(XPhos)] (IPr = N,N?-bis-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl) imidazol-2-ylidene; XPhos = 2-dicyclohexylphosphino-2?,4?,6?- triisopropylbiphenyl) was found to be the most efficient system, promoting the coupling of a wide range of aryl chlorides with boronic acids in aqueous media with a typical catalyst loading of 0.03 mol%.

Due to the low intrinsic acidity of amines, palladium-catalyzed C-N cross-coupling has been plagued continuously by the necessity to employ strong, inorganic, or insoluble bases. To surmount the many practical obstacles associated with these reagents, we utilized a commercially available dialkyl triarylmonophosphine-supported palladium catalyst that facilitates a broad range of C-N coupling reactions in the presence of weak, soluble bases. The mild and general reaction conditions show extraordinary tolerance for even highly base-sensitive functional groups. Additionally, insightful heteronuclear NMR studies using 15N-labeled amine complexes provide evidence for the key acidifying effect of the cationic palladium center.

A game of dominoes: A synthetic route to aza-dihydrodibenzoxepines is described, through the combination of a Rh-catalyzed arylation and a Pd-catalyzed C-O coupling in a single pot. For the first time, the ability to incorporate a chiral and an achiral ligand in a two-component, two-metal transformation is achieved, giving the products in moderate to good yields, with excellent enantioselectivities. Gold-catalysed oxidative cyclisation reactions of ynamides offer great promise in gamma-lactam synthesis but are limited by preferential over-oxidation to form alpha-keto imides. Evaluating the factors that might limit N-cyclisation pathways led to effective gold-catalysed conditions that allow access to different fused gamma-lactams on changing the ynamide N-substituent and accommodate previously incompatible substitution patterns. New and efficient methods for the synthesis of functionalised 3-aryl indoles and cyclohepta[c]pyrrol-1-one derivatives are presented. These conditions illustrate the complementarity of gold catalysis to other metals.
