This solvolysis failed in the case of the bulkier Fe[(C5H4)N(COMe)(2,6-Me2C 6H3)]2 (1b). Fe[(C5H 4)N(2,6-Me2C6H3)]2 (2b) and Fe[(C5H4)N(2,4,6-iPr3C6H 2)]2 (2c) were obtained by Hartwig-Buchwald type cross-coupling of 1,1?-diaminoferrocene with the respective aryl bromide.
