A facile, stereoselective method for the synthesis of both carbon- and P-chirogenic phosphine oxides and phosphines bearing a hydroxyl chelating arm was developed. A carefully designed oxaphospholane was constructed via tandem Arbuzov- intramolecular cyclization reaction, using commercially available compounds.
